krhrural: Roberttown and Hartshead villages sit high up between Mirfield and Brighouse and are privileged to overlook the beautiful and historic Armytage Estate. The land has been in the family for over 450 years and has featured in the lives of Robin Hood, the Luddites and the Bronte sisters. It has been severed by the M62 motorway, and threatened by the M62/M1 link road. Now the Kirklees Council LDF proposes to turn over 103 acres to industrial development. This recent threat has touched the hearts of both residents and the many visitors who walk the labyrinth of public footpaths. This blog is for all who care about keeping this unique landscape for future generations to enjoy.
